Piceni e Romani

1° day: FERMO - In the morning arrival in Fermo, noble and very ancient city, which has its origins in pre-Roman times as witnessed by the three Picenum necropolis, discovered around the town. In the Archeological Museum you can admire finds from Roman and Picenum periods. Of the latter the cisterns are the most obvious testimony, as well as the remains of the Roman Theatre. After lunch we continue to Falerone, a center of the Roman period, featuring a theatre and an amphitheater, numerous patrician villas, baths, sepulchral monuments and state of the art water plants. We will visit the Archaeological Park (unique in the province of Fermo) and the Civil Archaeological Museum.
2° day: BELMONTE PICENO - morning departure for Belmonte Piceno, a very important Picenum period center, as witnessed by the very rich necropolis found here. Roman ruins are still visible in the surrounding area. A short stop in Montelparo, an interesting old village, before reaching Monte Rinaldo. Here there is an interesting archaeological site, where you can see the remains of a hellenistic temple, which is considered one of the most important complexes in the region. Visit to the Archeological Museum.
3° day: MONTERUBBIANO - A charming town that sits on top of a hill, it was an interesting center during the picenum-roman period, as witnessed by the artifacts preserved in the Archaeological Museum. Our research continues towards Campofilone where, just out from the periphery there is still a Roman cistern with double room, and where the collection of picenum-roman artifacts may be viewed on the premises of the parish church of San Lorenzo.
